Norman Hall – Gone Home
We were sad to learn that former Westhill Scout Leader and Group Scout Leader, Norman Hall, died at the end of May.
Norman volunteered for over sixty years in scouting and was a well known and well respected figure in the North East.
His scouting journey started in Morecambe when he started aged 8 as a Wolf Cub after the war in the 1940s. His first neckerchief was made from old blackout curtains!
As an adult he remained dedicated to scouting and became a scout master at Morecambe and then later a Group Scout Leader there.
Norman and his late wife Carole then moved to Westhill in the 1970s where he became Scout Leader when Westhill Scout Group was in its infancy. He remained Scout Leader in Westhill for 14 years before becoming Westhill’s Group Scout Leader.
Norman’s many achievements over the years included getting the current scout hall in Westhill built.
A list of the volunteering he carried out following his move to Westhill can be seen below.
Norman dedicated most of his adult life to volunteering and so it is poignant that Norman passed away just before #VolunteersWeek. He was a kind and community spirited man and our thoughts are with Norman’s family and all of those who knew him.
