WSG donate 45kg of food to local Foodbank

Date: 5th Jan 2022 Author: Jane THOMSON

Happy New Year to all of our Scouting Families. We hope you have had a nice time over the Christmas holidays.

Before Christmas, families were asked to consider using the money normally used at our annual Soup N Santa fundraiser and to donate items needed by AberNecessities and the Foodbanks.

Westhill Scouting families were yet again VERY GENEROUS.

We were able to deliver 45kg of food to the Aberdeenshire North (Trussell Trust) Food Bank, plus a similar volume to the Westhill (Community Church) Foodbanks, plus a car full of essentials and Christmas cheer to AberNecesities.

The foodbank wrote in Thanks saying,

“Please pass on our thanks to all of your Westhill Scouting families who have shown such kindness to those in food poverty at a busy time of the year.  It must have been disappointing for you not to be able to hold your normal Christmas Santa and Soup lunch but your alternative arrangements have certainly worked to our benefit.  Your donation weighed in at an impressive 44.95 kg and contained exactly the right kinds of things to allow us to continue providing well balanced, nutritious food parcels to those who need them most.

Without your generosity and thoughtfulness for others, we would not be able to provide the service that we do to the families who. too often these days. have to choose between paying essential bills and putting food on the table.

Thank you once again for supporting the work of Aberdeenshire North Food Bank.”

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
